The Second Month of HDPE Plant Reconstruction
The total realization of the project of the HDPE Plant reconstruction by 7 November has reached 73% regarding planned 76%. According to Vladimir Koprivšek, Executive Director for Productional and Technical Affairs and Project Manager of the Project Team, operations proceed very well thanks to great effort of main contractor “Goša Montaža“, performer of construction, electro and instrumental operations, as well as of employees of “Petrohemija“.
“Although the dynamics of planned operations has not always followed the management plan during the previous month, by the end of October, almost 95% of entire equipment and 73% of pipelines were mounted. Also, almost 64% of the activities in the instrumental and electro section has been done, and the INRU has been completely linked, internally and with the rest of the plant.“, Koprivšek pointed out. He has stated that they are again within the plan, in spite of the delay of fabrication and mounting of pipelines, electro and instrumental operations, as well as of unexpected construction operations. Process operations are being done according to the plan, and they include preparation of process manuals, training of HDPE employees for the work in new configuration, and defining of details of managing the plant with the licensor and vendors. During October, it happened that the scope of construction operations was greater than previously considered in the of September, and certain unplanned expences appeared. Still, those expences have been put under control, thanks to great effort of the leader of team for construction operations and his co-workers. “Regardless of the fact that “Goša Montaža“ faced remarkably increased scope of work on the construction site,in comparison to the agreed scope of work, they have reinforced their team in the field and they would comply with the previously agreed date, 19 November, for the completion of mechanical operations“ highlighted Koprivšek and confirmed that planned date for the HDPE start, 21 December, would be followed.
By Monday, 19 November, besides the completion of mechanical equipment mounting, completion of pipeline mounting is also expected, and final instrumental and electro operations are planned to be completed by 27 November. The start of technical acceptance of the plant is planned in November and would last for a month, as well as the first greater test – start-up, trial operation and performance verification of the internal filter in the section of catalyst activation.
In the period form 20 to 30 November, vendor representatives of Bigelow-Liptak from Canada will be staying in Petrohemija. Full completion of operations regarding all disciplines, as well as the arrival of representatives of HDPE process licensor from the USA, ChevronPhillips Chemicals, and arrival of MTR Inc., the INRU vendor, is planned for the end of November, and by then, the HDPE Plant will be ready for examination, correction of possible defects and start-up preparation.
Koprivšek concluded that all team members and participants in the realization of project from “HIP-Petrohemija“, as well as contractors’ workers, vendors and the licencor, are very well informed on planned deadlines and that they confirmed that everything planned would be accomplished.
