HIP-Petrohemija a.d. Pančevo holds a significant place in the South East Europe chemical industry, having a business tradition longer than 40 years. The petrochmical industry is an important consumer of energy and natural resources in general, and that’s the reason that within the recent sustainable business development a focus has been maintained on energy management process. In addition to technological development of the Company, in the last five years HIP-Petrohemija has invested significant resources in knowledge about energy consumption. Continual improvement of energy performances is one of our company’s strategic goals. The energy management development has brought significant financial savings and operation improvements to HIP-Petrohemija. The strategic goals in the field of energy make an integral part of HIP-Petrohemija’s policy. The organized energy management includes integrated approach and permanent care of energy in all structures of the company aiming to rational use of energy. The investments, operational-technical and business upgrades have brought along the noticeable advancement in plant energy efficiency.
The Energy Management System (EnMS)in HIP-Petrohemija has been in compliance with the ISO 50001:2011, ever since 2015, when it was first certified. In 2019, the transition was successfully completed and the system was certified in accordance with the new version of ISO 50001:2018. By implementation of ISO 50001, HIP-Petrohemija also fulfilled the legal requirements regarding energy issues, since it turned out that the elements of ISO 50001 were in full compliance with legal regulations of both RS and EU. The Energy Management System (EnMS) of the Republic of Serbia was introduced in 2016, when the Regulation on Energy Consumption Efficiency (Official gazette: Sl.gl. RS 25/2013) and related sublegal acts started to be applied. Being a significant energy consumer in Serbia, with its two locations (Pančevo and Elemir), HIP-Petrohemija is subject to this system. Only in 2016, on its Pančevo location, Petrohemija had savings in primary energy consumption of approximately 12% when compared to 2015, in 2017 another 2% of savings was reported, and in 2018, another 3.2%. HIP-Petrohemija is in full harmonization with the national regulatives and the Energy Management System (EnMS) of the Republic of Serbia.
When comparing the specific energy consumption in HIPP in the previous time (GJ/t vn), one can see the continual energy efficiency improvement in the period observed. Significant decrease of energy consumption and energy performances improvement were noticed after 2015, what was a result of capital investments in the plants. The specific consumption in 2018, was lower for 25% when compared to 2010, or 16.4% when compared to 2015. After 2015, along with realization of several minor projects related to energy efficiency, a trend of permanent improvements have been recorded. In 2018, the savings in final energy consumption of 2.32% were recorded compared to 2017, and financial savings of 10% when compared to the planned costs for energy.
