Waste management is practiced in a way to ensure the minimum risk to life and health of people and harm to the environment, through monitoring and measures carried out to reduce:
• pollution of waters, air and soil;
• danger to plants and animals;
• danger of accidents, explosions and fires;
• negative impact on landscapes and special-value natural resources;
• level of noise and unpleasant odors.
Waste management in HIP-Petrohemija a.d. Pančevo is carried out in accordance with the Waste Management Plan. The Plan identifies all wastes (their types, composition, and quantity), methods and ways of different kinds of wastes separation, and defines wastes flows, the ways of their storage, treatment and disposal, by applying the waste management hierarchy principles, establishes measures to be undertaken for for the purpose of waste production reduction, protective measures against fire and explosions, and measures for the environment and people health protection.
The produced waste is handed over to the authorized operators who have the competent body’s permission for further management of the wastes (storage, treatment, export).
