HDPE Plant reconstruction started
On Monday, September 3rd, 2012, the operations on HDPE Plant reconstruction officially started. During the last week in August the main contractor “Gosa montaza“ from Velika Plana completed all preliminary works for starting this reconstruction, so they began dismantling works in the plant on Monday, September 3rd, at noon time.
In this first week the most complicated works were done since the equipment of which each part weighs approximately 15 tons was dismantled from the highest positions, 35 to 40 meters high. The Project Team Manager, Mr Dusan Nikolic, says that there is wonderful cooperation between HIP Petrohemija’s chemical, mechanical, instrumental, and electrical engineers, as well as firemen and security people, with the people from “Gosa montaza“, high quality workers, who carefully and safely do dismantling of the old HDPE Plant equipment, all in accordance with the agreed dynamics. “Works are going on in accordance with the planned dynamics. Although in the middle of the week the wind slowed down the works, problems were soon overcome and the works on HDPE dismantling were continued. It is expected dismantling to be completed by Monday, September 17th. Primary items of the Project Team in realization of this investment include safety, quality, time, and money“ - said Mr Nikolic. In the next week dismantling works will be continued, now with less risky equipment which is at height of 35m and dismantling of this equipment is not dependent on weather conditions.
After that, in a period from September 17th to September 24th, as Nikolic says, it is expected the vendors from USA and Canada to come, who will check the equipment which is ready to be installed, and approve its installation.
According to the Project Team plans for realization of this investment, in the beginning of October the mechanical parts of the equipment will be completely installed in the HDPE Plant, what will be followed by additional mechanical works in the plant and installation of instrumental and electrical equipment. The mechanical completeness of the plant is expected by mid-November.
