HIP-Petrohemija Started Operating
By the start-up of Ethylene Plant, after several months of standstill, due to investment operations in HDPE Plant, production in HIP-Petrohemija started successfully. After the flare was burnt and virgin naphta introduced into Ethylene furnaces on Wednesday, 5 December, in the afternoon, Ethylene Plant entered specification and during the night got first products: ethylene, propylene, C4 fraction and pyrolytic oil, whereas the pyroloytic gas would be in specification on Thursday, 6 December. The production in LDPE Plant and Electrolysis Plant was also established yesterday. It is expected that HDPE 90kTA Plant, after technical survey and acquiring of necessary consents and permits from authorised services, would be provided with all conditions for trial work by Friday, 14 December. Licensor representatives from Chevron Phillips Chemicals and vendor representatives from MTR Inc. will also participate in the very start-up.
During the start-up of Ethylene Plant, increased flame and noise from the flare could have been seen and heard, but the entire process is under control and with no influence on working surroundings and environment. „ When start-up activities occur, HIP-Petrohemija takes all precautionary measures in order to decrease influence on working surroundings and environment. Intensive control is being performed, i.e. monitoring of polluting substances in air, as well as regular tracking of municipality monitoring of the town of Pančevo“, stated Iboja Raša, Manager of Environmental Protection Service. According to her, yesterday, there were no increased concentrations of polluting substances in the working surroundings, and based on the municipality monitoring, it can be conluded that there was no distortion of air quality of Pančevo. All institutions in authority were informed on start-up activities of HIP-Petrohemija.
