HDPE Reconstruction Soon Completed
“Investment operations on HDPE reconstruction are reaching their end and mechanical completion of the facility is expected on the first weekend of December, 1 and 2 December. By that time operations of contractor “Goša Montaža“, with whom we had great cooperation, will also be finished. The contractor will stay a bit longer in Petrohemija, due to possible repairs. After the mechanical mounting, instrumentation operations are 99 % done and electro operations are completely finished. Until the end of investment operations, it is necessary to perform corrosion protection and pipeline isolation, check sealings and wash all the systems.“ stated Vladimir Koprivšek, Executive Director for Production and Technical Operations and Manager of the Project Team.
On session held on Tuesday, 27 November, Executive Board adopted Decision on readiness of HIPP’s plants for the planned start-up. According to Živko Spasić, Assistant to Executive Director for Production, all plants and working units of HIP-Petrohemija are ready for the start-up. Introduction of gas and flare firing in Ethylene Plant is expected to occur on Friday, 30 November, 2012. LDPE Plant start-up is planned for Sunday afternoon, 2 December. Two days later, on Tuesday, 4 December, start-up of Electrolysis Plant is expected, and on Monday, 10 December, start-up of SBR Plant in Elemir is expected.
Representative of Bigelow-Liptak, equipment supplier from Canada, who was very satisfied with performed work, stayed in Petrohemija until Tuesday, 29 November. The first activation of catalyst with new equipment was performed and, according to his estimate, everything functions quite well. Representatives of HDPE process licensor, Chevron Phillips Chemicals, from the USA arrived and started working on Tuesday, 27 November. Their task is to perform inspection of reconstruction of PF section, train employees and provide assistance for the start-up. Arrival of representatives of INRU supplier, MTR Inc., is expected on Tuesday, 4 December. They will, alongside employees training and start-up assistance, deal with examination of INRU.
Technical survey of HDPE 90kTA facility began on Thursday, 15 November. Commission for technical approval is in constant operation and performs examination of complete technical documentation, i.e. reconstruction project, attestation documentation, permits and approvals of provincial authorities, then the construction site survey and assessment of compliance of the performed operations with the mentioned documentation. Results of work of this Commission represent the Report on capability of HDPE 90kTA for trial work. “In parallel, facility inspection is performed by Firefighting Police Commission for Technical approval – rescue sector of Pančevo. Upon obtaining approval for trial work, issued by Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning, start-up of HDPE 90kTA Plant is performed, and added that the start-up was planned for the mid December 2012. During the trial work period of HDPE 90kTA Plant, lasting from 6 to 12 months, adjustment of process parametres is being performed, final product quality is being adjusted, target capacity of the facility is being performed and influence on environment is being measured. After this period, the Commission for technical examination gives the final Report on plant meeting the requirements for obtaining use permit. This permit, on the demand of HIP-Petrohemija, is issued by Provincial Secretariat for Urban Planning“, stated Srdjan Sokolović, Manager of Strategic Development and Investment Centre.
