The Lurgi (Germany)
designed Synthetic Rubber Plant in Elemir near Zrenjanin was put
in operation around the end of 1983 and became a part of HIP-Petrohemija
in 1991.
The plant is composed of three production units:
I Production of emulsive Styrene Butadiene Rubber
(SBR), in accordance with the license of Bunawerke
Huls ( Germany), design capacity 40,000 t/y. Three different
SBR types are produced and marketed under the HIPREN® trade
mark: two of the 1500 series and one of the 1700 series. Styrene
Butadiene Rubber finds broad applications in the manufacture of
various products – from automobiles' tires and transport belts
for industry to tiny technical products made of rubber.
II Extraction of 1,3
Butadiene, in accordance with the license of Nippon
Zeon ( Japan ), design capacity 45,000 t/y. This product
is used in production of the synthetic rubbers, resins, dyes,
polyesters, polyurethanes etc.
III Production of Methyl
Tertiary Butyl Ether (MTBE), in accordance with the
license of Snamprogetti (
